Biography

Suat Yalaz was a prominent Turkish comic book artist, screenwriter, and film director, best known as the creator of the character Karaoğlan. Born in Çiçekdağı, Kırşehir, Turkey, he began his career as a caricaturist and comic artist, gaining attention with the debut of 'Karaoğlan' on January 3, 1962. In 1970, Yalaz moved to France, where he created French-language adaptations of Karaoğlan, such as Changor (1971). His work significantly influenced Turkish popular culture, and he remained active in the arts until his passing in Istanbul on March 2, 2020.
